Croquet Academy

Swing Trainer in action

The South East Croquet Federation created the Croquet Academy at the Sussex County Croquet Club in Southwick in 2007 to provide a range of courses by qualified coaches for all levels of skill.

The Croquet Academy is in full action. We’ve planned a range of courses to suit players of all abilities, all aimed at helping to make you a better player.

2023 Programme launched

Highlights of the 2023 programme are:

  • A new Modular Short Croquet course run over 4 sessions in the autumn and spring of 23/24 following the success of the 2022 series.
  • A comprehensive series of AC courses covering players of all abilities including Cliff Jones’ Triple Peel course.
  • A comprehensive set of GC courses covering players of all abilities with a choice of three venues: Southwick, Guildford & Tunbridge Wells
  • A special one day course and seminar “Golf Croquet Mistakes (and how to avoid them), presented by Stephen Custance-Baker.
  • Following our first trial of an on demand modular course, we are delighted that Rich Waterman, the CA’s Director of Coaching, is offering an enhanced series of on-demand modules as well as 3 live Zoom sessions during the year.
  • Croquet needs more coaches and referees. In 2023 we are offering a subsidised Coaches Qualification Course as well as a GC Referees Qualification Course.

2022/23 Autumn/Winter Programme announced

  • Golf Croquet Workshops (one at Tunbridge Wells)
  • Introduction to Association Croquet and
  • Coach Training/Qualification

2022 Programme: New innovations include:

An introduction to AC using Short Croquet

Short croquet is an ideal way to start playing Association Croquet (AC). It is played on half sized lawns which makes it far easier to pick up and practice the techniques involved in this fascinating game.

Croquet Mindset Mastery on-demand – Via on line modules

Attitude of mind is a vital component in improving your performance. This course, created by a leading mindset practitioner, enables you to study the course at a speed to suit yourself. The on line course will be supported by live on line Q & A sessions.

Hub club coaching

The Academy have planned to set up two new hubs at Guildford and Tunbridge Wells where Academy Coaches will come to the hub to lead the courses. The purpose is to reduce participants travel by offering some of the more popular courses. These Federation courses will be in addition to the comprehensive programme at Southwick.
