2022 League Changes

The AGM approved a number of changes to the rules for our Leagues in 2022:

  • there is no longer an expectation that home clubs have to provide lunches, although clubs may still do so – catering arrangements need to be agreed when a match is arranged
  • the tie-breaking arrangements have been clarified
  • the Association Croquet U League now uses a base handicap of 6. This means that all players with handicap of 7 and above receive bisques and all players in a match may receive bisques!
  • the Association Croquet B League is now more firmly aimed at high handicap player, being based on three rounds of 14-point games with a 90 minute time limit and a base handicap of 6.
Rather than a total handicap for a team, the minimum handicap per player is now 10 at the date when the match is arranged.
To help smaller clubs the team size has also been reduced to three, allowing for a single lawn to be used.

Our Leagues and Tournaments

We’re pleased to announce that all our Leagues and Tournaments will operate as normal this year, although there may be some small adjustments to conform to the Croquet Association’s Covid-19 Guidelines.

In particular the Southern Challenge will still be a two day event in two Divisions, but since there will be a reduced number of teams in Division 1 there will be no Promotions from the 2020 Division 2. Details are available here.

The draws for the Leagues have already been announced, so we can’t take any more entrants for any of the Leagues. However, there may be spaces in our Tournaments, so if your club is interested in playing in one of these please send your entry in as soon as possible.

Invoices for these will be sent out shortly.

SECF 2021 League Matches announced

We’re restarting our leagues, after a year in abeyance, now that Covid-19 restrictions allow for matches to take place (assuming the dates for relaxation are met and therefore players are able to travel).

The league draws can be seen on our fixture list page.

Please note that Covid-19 regulations may mean some adjustments may need to be made to the logistics, e.g. provision of refreshments will be possible at some times during the summer and not at others.
