Hove Beach joins us as a new member club. Obviously they’re on the seafront, sharing lawns with a Bowls Club, and have two non-full size courts.

SECF 2021 League Matches announced
We’re restarting our leagues, after a year in abeyance, now that Covid-19 restrictions allow for matches to take place (assuming the dates for relaxation are met and therefore players are able to travel).
The league draws can be seen on our fixture list page.
Please note that Covid-19 regulations may mean some adjustments may need to be made to the logistics, e.g. provision of refreshments will be possible at some times during the summer and not at others.
New SECF website
Today we successfully completed the migration of our website from a roll-your-own approach to a WordPress based solution and a different ISP, which should allow us to develop the SECF in future more easily.
You will notice that the appearance has changed a bit, with a nice picture at the top, dates of our own forthcoming events and recent news items on each page. Other things are:
- The menu system has changed a bit
- We’re now consolidating news from many clubs who provide an RSS news feed in the South East on to a single page (https://southeastcroquetfederation.org.uk/1674644977408/local-club-news/)
- League results submission is a little simpler
- We’ve added a brief bit about croquet for the sake of completeness and to help newcomers
- Many minor bits and bobs
- Oh, you’ll see that in the title bar the pages are labelled southeastcroquetfederation.org.uk. You can use this or just stick with the shorter southeastcroquet.org.uk!
But in general there’s much that hasn’t changed, so you should be familiar with how it all works.
Please note that if you’ve bookmarked any pages that they won’t work anymore – all the URLs have changed (sorry, they were a relic of the original development many years ago).

Clubs CLOSED
Following the new Government lockdown all outdoor sports locations are to close.
It is sometimes difficult to determine the number of extra turns/bisques to be given in Golf or Association Handicap games and also the number of Index points to be exchanged at the end of a level-play game, so John has released the free Croquet Calculator app for iPad/iPhones:
“A calculator to determine who receives bisques/extra turns, and any handicap index changes, for Association and Golf Croquet matches. In particular, it allows the easy calculation of the extra turns received in a doubles Golf Croquet handicap match taking into account all the requirements of Rule 19.3 of The Rules of Golf Croquet 2018.”
