Sussex County win AC Ladies Day
The Croquet South East Ladies AC day was held at Southwick on 12th June. Cold and dull until the afternoon sun.
We had only 4 teams this year as we had 2 late withdrawals. There were 3 rounds of short croquet – singles, doubles and a mixture of both. Plenty of good croquet, and nice to see newcomers playing with experienced players.
Sussex won with 10 points, and the runners up were Rother Valley with 8 points. Sussex captain Deborah Marcus, Pam Gooders and Kathy McCoglan received the Ladies Day shield. This is the second year running they have won the competition. Congratulations to them. Indeed thanks to all who took part and made it an enjoyable day.
We were lucky to have a cream tea and chocolate cake after play, generously supplied by Carol Driver. Grateful thanks to her.
It would be uplifting to see more players take part in short croquet which is fun, easy to learn and the games are short! Let me know or any other coaches if you want a chance to learn!
