TECHNIQUE ~ TACTICS
CONFIDENCE ~ CONSISTENCY
RULES ~ REGULATIONS
These are topics, objectives and learning platforms that form the structure of our 2026 GC Academy Courses. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned player, there is an Academy Course for you.
An in depth look at individual stroke play technique is the basis of the very popular GC Workshop. Following a filming session, you can review and analyse what is going on with your stance and swing via video playback. From these results you can work with your coach to improve what you see and build on your strengths.
Developing a tactical mindset is a vital element for long term successful croquet. The GC Coached Games Day will look at and discuss a variety of strategies through either set scenarios or, incidents as they happen on-court during the day’s games. Importantly, learning to think ahead and make sound, considered decisions will increase the chances of winning games.
With AC Coaching we have gone modular. Following a successful trial last year, a number of our courses have been split into 2 Modules allowing time to practice the learning points of the first module before embarking on the second.
Beginners start with Short Croquet then having mastered the shots can move onto full sized lawns with confidence.
Many of those who started with Short Croquet have gone on to be part of winning Federation and National Competition teams in addition to winning many individual awards.
Confidence and Consistency go hand in hand and our Academy Coaches will work with you on skills and practice routines to bring out the best in your croquet whichever course you attend.
We encourage all clubs to have Coaches and Referees. With this in mind, a two-day Coaches Qualification Course has been scheduled along with AC and GC Referees Qualification Courses. All qualification courses will be held in March.
Another recommended March course is Understanding the GC Rules. This half-day course is for those who wish to gain better knowledge of the GC Rules, but prefer not to become a referee. It is mainly on-court discussion and demonstrations.
One-to-one sessions can be arranged at any time and our coaches will be delighted to help in any way they can.
